The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science is proud to host the extraordinary Da Vinci, The Genius exhibition created by Grande Exhibitions of Victoria, Australia in collaboration with the Museo Leonardo da Vinci, Rome, and the French scientific engineer Pascal Cotte. This is the most comprehensive traveling exhibition on Leonardo da Vinci ever assembled.

1.    How long will the exhibition be at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science?
The exhibition will be open to the public from February 10, 2018, through August 29, 2018.

2.    Will there be an upcharge for the exhibition?
Yes. The general public (adults) are $22 for the exhibition which will include admission to the Museum and Planetarium. Admission prices for members and seniors will be reduced. The Museum’s priority is to keep children’s admissions and school tour admissions as low as possible so that every child in New Mexico will have an opportunity to experience this amazing exhibition. Your support can make that happen.

3.    What are the primary educational messages of the exhibition?
The exhibition provides insights into the amazing mind of this Renaissance thinker. Da Vinci illustrates the inspirational and unlimited capacity of the human mind and an entrepreneurial spirit that remains essential to navigating our modern world.

4.    What does DaVinci, The Genius include?
This 15,000 square foot exhibition is comprised of two parts: The Inventions area features 75 large-scale models of his machine inventions brought to life for the first time by modern day artisans, many of which are interactive.

5.    What else can I expect in the exhibition?
In addition to life-sized models and multimedia presentations, you can expect to see facsimiles of a fascinating collection of rare codices and da Vinci’s art works, animations telling the story behind The Vitruvian Man, Mona Lisa, the Last Supper and the Sforza Horse sculpture, as well as many hands-on interactive experiences—over 200 pieces in total.

6.    What are some of the inventions I will see? 
You will see first concepts for a car, bicycle, helicopter, glider, parachute, SCUBA apparatus, submarine, military tank, and conceptual plans for an ideal city, to name a few.

7.    Who is most likely to enjoy the exhibition?
The exhibition is designed to be accessible to a broad range of people—from novice to expert, from small children to adults. While the exhibition is very scholarly, it includes interactives and activities that introduce visitors to a broad range of artistic and scientific endeavors.

8.    How long should visitors devote to the exhibition?
At a leisurely pace, an exhibition visit could take anywhere from an hour to several hours. We’re hoping that visitors will return again and again, utilizing the exhibition to explore their own interests and introduce their friends and families to this amazing individual whose influence has continued for hundreds of years.
